 Welcome to Mud Dabbers

mud dabbers brevard

Welcome to Mud Dabbers Pottery & Crafts!  We have two shops located in the Blue Ridge Mountains of Western North Carolina.  Our original shop is located south of Brevard on scenic U.S. Hwy 276.  Our second shop is nestled in the mountains outside of Waynesville, just a stones throw from the Blue Ridge Parkway exit at Balsam Gap.  We feature locally made functional and decorative hand-crafted pottery.

Mud Dabbers Pottery opened its first store in 1988, featuring the work of the John O. Dodson family.  Since that time, other local potters have joined the Mud Dabbers ranks, providing an exceptional variety of pottery forms and styles.  Both shops have potters on site, and visitors are welcome to watch them at work.  We welcome wedding registries and special orders.  Come find out why Mud Dabbers Pottery is a “must visit” place in the mountains.

The Mud Dabbers name was inspired by dirt daubers, the insects who build their nests from mud, who found the Dodson family’s drying pots the perfect source of building supplies. The smiling Mud Dabber logo, drawn by son John E. at age 12, symbolizes the joy and happiness the family hopes will be yours in the sharing of their craft.

Don’t miss our popular Holiday Open Houses!  Mud Dabbers in Balsam holds their event on the first weekend in December and the Brevard location celebrates the second weekend in December.
