Welcome to Mud Dabber’s

Mud Dabber’s is located in the beautiful Blue Ridge Mountains in Western North Carolina, just outside the town of Brevard on Highway 276 and on the banks of Dunn’s Creek. Mud Dabbers overflows with beautiful stoneware pottery, both art and functional forms, produced on site in the working studio and gallery.

Brevard is known as “Land of the Waterfalls” and sports over 276 waterfalls. It is home to Brevard Music Center and is a thriving arts hub. This quaint town sits just outside of Pisgah National Forest and is minutes away from DuPont State Forest. The downtown area is filled with wonderful shops and great restaurants. Stop by and say hi you’ll love it!

Mud Dabbers was started by Potter, John O. Dodson in the 1970s and is still owned and run by his family today.

The Mud Dabbers’ name was inspired by the dirt dabbers, insects who build their nests from mud, that found the family’s drying pots the perfect source of building supplies. The smiling Mud Dabber logo, drawn by son John at age 12, symbolizes the joy and happiness the family hopes will be yours in the sharing of their craft.

Come see the potters at work in their studios. Each piece is handmade in Western North Carolina.

Mud Dabbers was featured on the Discovery Channel’s “Home Matters” show and ESPN II’s “Fly Fishing in America” program, and listed in The Craft Heritage Trails of Western North Carolina.
